Chicago Black Pride
Logo and brand design for Chicago Black Pride, Chicago’s longest running Pride for the Black LGBTQ+ community, originally founded in 1989.

The event organizers sought a fresh, dynamic vision for the 2023 event, one that resonated with the vibrant and diverse Black LGBTQ+ community in Chicago. They envisioned an elevated, sophisticated aesthetic that challenged stereotypes while honoring the rich, multifaceted history of Chicago’s Black queer community.
-
In close collaboration with the event organizers, I crafted a cohesive direction, starting with mood boards and typography explorations. From there, I refined the concept into multiple logo iterations, sub-logos, a color palette, and brand patterns—each element inspired by the rich history of Black queer culture, particularly within Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood, where the event takes place. The final deliverables included a complete logo set, brand assets, and a range of print materials, promotional pieces, and social media graphics.
